| 内容記述 | 長年にわたってアーカイブズ振興に取り組んできたユネスコは、アーカイブズの一部を占める視聴覚資料を確実に収集・保存し、アクセスを提供する活動の基盤となる知識を体系化すべく、オーストラリアを代表する視聴覚アーキビストのレイ・エドモンドソンに基礎文献の執筆を委託した。この基礎文献は初版が出版された1998 年以来読み継がれ、最新の『視聴覚アーカイブ活動──その哲学と原則 第3 版』が2016 年に出版されたところである。視聴覚アーキビスト養成やネットワーク強化の重要性を説き、専門用語を定義し、デジタル格差・アドボカシー・環境インパクトといった新しいトピックを取り入れつつも、視聴覚アーカイブ活動の揺るぎない根幹を成す哲学と原則を講じる同文献は、日本におけるこの領域の立ち遅れを改善するための示唆に満ちている。本調査の成果として2017 年に完成した邦訳の公表をきっかけに、視聴覚資料の救済に向けた議論の深まりが期待される。 | |||||

| 内容記述 | UNESCO is a long-term supporter of archival studies. In 1998, Ray Edmondson, a leading audiovisual archivist in Australia, was entrusted with the task of assembling a basic primer on audiovisual archiving to ensure the collection, preservation, and provision of access to audiovisual materials. Since then, his Audiovisual Archiving: Philosophy and principles has become a key text in the field with its lates（t 3rd）edition published in 2016. The book defines basic terminology and emphasizes the importance of education and training of audiovisual archivists, as well as networking within the profession, and although it introduces new topics such as the digital divide, advocacy, or environmental impact, its core philosophy and principles remain consistent. The Japanese version published in 2018 is expected to stimulate discussion and raise awareness of this area of study in order to save audiovisual materials, in which Japan lags behind other countries. | |||||
