| 内容記述 | 動詞“煮詰まる” は、〈まもなく結論が出る状態になる〉という意味で使うのが「正用」、〈行きづまってどうにもならなくなる〉という意味で使うのが「誤用」とされる。この“煮詰まる”をめぐる問題のうち、先行文献、「正用」「誤用」の発生時期、「誤用」浸透の背景等については、さきに拙稿を発表した。本稿はそれに続き、国語辞書の「誤用」の扱い、世論調査の結果、実例の調査結果等の分析に基づき、この語の今日の使用実態について考察した。そして、2 度の世論調査の結果からは「誤用」はむしろ高年層で勢力を伸ばしているとみられること、「誤用」例は「人間の心理状態に関する例」「人間の思考に関する例」「物事の状況に関する例」に3 分類できることを示した。さらに、原義からの意味変化の過程に関して考察を行い、〈長時間加熱された結果、水分がなくなり、味が濃くなって、それ以上煮ることはできない、という状況になる〉というところから「誤用」が生じたと考えた。 | |||||

| 内容記述 | The verb “nitsumaru” is used to mean “soon to reach a conclusion” in its correct use and “get more and more stuck” in its increasing misuse. Regarding the problems related to “nitsumaru”, I have previously published manuscripts on prior literature, timing in correct use and misuse, and background behind the spread of its misuse. This paper subsequently considered the current usage of this term based on the treatment of its misuse in Japanese dictionaries, results of opinion polls, and results of actual surveys. In addition, from the results of two polls, it seems that misuse is growing in popularity among the elderly. Examples of misuse can be classified into three categories: examples of human psychological state, examples of human thinking, and examples of the situation of things. Furthermore, I considered the progression of misuse from the original meaning, using the example “as a result of heating for a long time, the water disappears, the taste becomes deeper, and it cannot be boiled any more”. I consider the misuse occurring from this point. | |||||
