| 内容記述 | 本稿では一見近代化との関係が強いようには見えない漢字語基の中にも、日本の近代化に伴いその使用が増大し定着していったものがあることを提示した。具体的には、「特」を含む二字漢語について初出年代を調査し、「特」語彙が大きく増加した時期が幕末から明治10 年（1854～1877）の間であることを示し、この時期が初出である27 語のうち半数以上が現在もよく通用するものとして残っていることを明らかにした。また、「特」が後項にくる二字漢語は7 語と少なく、大正時代以降が初出のものはないことも確認した。次に、「特」語彙が持つ意味を、「（1）雄牛。（2）つれがない。ひとり。（3）すぐれている。（4）他とは異なる。」に分け、「特」が元々持っていた（1）の意味の二字漢語は日本では使用されず、（2）～（4）の意味はいずれも近世以前から見られることを示し、（4）の意味を持つ語が全体の7 割以上を占めどの時期でも多いこと、（2）の意味を持つ語は少なく、第二次大戦後が初出のものはないこと、（3）の意味を持つ語は幕末から第二次大戦まではある程度の数が見られたものの、初出例が戦後の語は1 語のみであることを確認した。 | |||||

| 内容記述 | This paper offers that one type of base which does not seem to have a close relationship with modernization came to be used more and to take root in the society along with the modernization of Japan. In other words, it examines the year in which Sino-Japanese vocabulary made from two Chinese characters with “toku”（特）（hereinafter called “toku vocabulary”）appeared for the first time, indicates that toku vocabulary increased greatly from 1854 to 1877, and clarifies that more than half of all 27 words which appeared in this period are still used now. Moreover, it confirms that there are only 7 words in which 特 is the last character, and that there were no new words introduced after the Taisho period. Next, this paper classifies the meaning of toku vocabulary into（i）bull（ii）alone（iii）superior（iv）different from others. This indicates that toku vocabulary in（i）is the oldest meaning and is not used in Japan, and that （ii）┉（iv）have been in use since the pre-modern period. In addition, it is confirmed that the words in（iv） account for more than 70% of words in all times, words in（ii）are few and there have been no new words since the end of World War II, and while some words in（iii）have been seen from the end of the Edo period to World War II, there is only one word that first appeared after the war. | |||||
