| 内容記述 | This article considers the reception of TV historical dramas among Chinese viewers. In the countries of East Asia, TV dramas or the other media repeatedly feature some historical themes. These themes are unique to each country and they contribute to the formation of historical awareness in them. While these themes are well understood within their respective domestic contexts, they are not so well known outside of each country. The author conducted interview surveys of Chinese graduate students in history at universities in Beijing and Shanghai. It is clear from the results that the respondents viewed historical dramas at the same amount regardless of whether they were made in China, Korea, and Japan. Due to censorship and multi-channelization in recent years, Chinese TV stations have insufficient content, and so historical dramas have gained a tremendous amount of popularity. However, because the same drama is often repeatedly broadcast for many hours a day, viewers prefer to watch it on the Internet rather than on TV. In terms of content, the dramas often make young women into the protagonists, a practice which suggests that the viewership includes young women. The results of the surveys demonstrate that Chinese viewership of historical dramas differs considerably from what we see in Japan in terms of who watches and how they do it. | |||||
