内容記述 | SA stands for "Student Assistant"; this refers to the one who helps international students to learn Japanese as a foreign language. Considering the SA's role as a language facilitator, the role description includes the specialised knowledge of language teaching to some extent. The foreign language learning institution has been implementing this system in a conventional manner. Given feedback by learners and SAs implies this system has been useful yet the areas of improvement have also been widely identified by a range of stakeholders, including learners, SAs, teachers, and the language learning institution. Based on the feedback, the SA practice and activities have been re-evaluated since 2010 so that this system would be operated more effectively. This also includes clarification and validation of activities and principles, which have contributed to the activity contents and system itself. Firstly, this article will give explanation of the SA system. This will also report on available activites; internal ones within the Japanese class, and external ones which include the SA's tutoring and its cooperation with the operating Japanese classes. Secondly, the impact and outcome of the SA activities for Japanese language learning and what SAs have learnt from the activites will be revised.These were obtained via the SA's post-activity retrospective, and the survey which was submitted by both SAs and learners. Finally, identified areas of further improvement will be provided. |
