| 内容記述 | Differences between Japan and Korea in their perceptions of the historical past remain as striking as ever． These differences concern not only pre－World War II modern history， during which Japan annexed Korea， but also interpretations about events in premodern times． In the present article， the author takes up this perception gap in the case of the attempts by Toyotomi Hideyoshi豊臣秀吉to invade the Korean peninsula in 1591 and 1592． While systematically summarizing how Korean history is taught in Japanese classrooms， he sheds light on the way in which textbook descriptions of the events have been revised and how the incident has been incorporated into the history curriculum． Finally， he discusses some pressing issues to be grappled with as Japanese historical education enters the new millennium． | |||||
