| 内容記述 | 「王政復古」「祭政一致」に基づき、再興された明治神祇官は古代の神祇官と異なり、大教宣布によって、国民を教化することをその職掌に加えた全く新しい機関である。本稿は、「開化」と「復古」という相反する二つの潮流が錯綜する中、明治初年の神祇行政から出発した国民教化政策が、神祇官から神祇省、教部省を経て、学校教育へと展開していく経緯を、女性の国民教化という視点からたどるものである。 明治五年、神祇省を廃し国民教化を強力に進めるための教部省が設立されると、神職は教部省の管轄下となり、全ての神職は国民教導を担う教導職に補される。このような国民教化体制のもと、神事あるいは神職から、開化と逆行する時代錯誤の「巫業」や「卜い」といった巫覡性が退けられ、近代化を図る神祇行政が進んでいく。こうしたなかで、明治七年山梨県から、教部省に教導職にたる女性を神社神職の補欠とする提案が教部省になされた。これは人民「開化」の一端を開くものとしての提案であったが、こうした提案がなされる背景には、教導職にたる人材確保が困難であったという状況と、実際に教化活動に従事した女性教導職の存在が考えられる。 明治六年に設立された国民教化の拠点「大教院」のもとには、女性教導職を育成する「女教院」があった。これまで神祇行政史のなかでは論じられてこなかったこの「女教院」の教師たちの日記や書翰には、活動の実態や教部省との関係が語られているが、なかでも女性たちの学問形成上果たした国学者たちの働きが注目される。 | |||||

| 内容記述 | In contrast to the ancient Jingikan, the Department of Divinities, which was ‘reinstated’ in 1869, was a completely new institution that added the task of ‘enlightening the nation through promulgating the teachings’ to its mandate of official duties. This article will trace the evolvement of the Policy to Enlighten the Nation into the formal education through the prism of women working on the policy. ‘Jyokyoin’ was the Women’s Institute for the Training of Female State Missionaries（kyodosyoku ）, which was established under the Institute of the Great Teachings（taikyoin ）, the stronghold of the ‘enlightening of the nation’ in the early years of the Meiji Era. This article is concerned with the relations between the Jyokoin and the Ministry of Teachings（kyobusyo ）,and the role played by scholars of Native Studies（kokugaku）on the formation of women’s education. | |||||
