| 内容記述 | 嘉村礒多は、昭和三年から八年にかけての短期間に、自らの身辺を題材とした、三十ほどの短編小説を書いただけのマイナー作家であるにも拘らず、彼の文学史的な地位は大変高い。嘉村が正典に登録されているといっても誤りではない。こうした事態をもたらしたものは、発表された作品に対する、同時代の評者の熱烈な支持と考えられる。それは同時代評を検討することによって確認することができる。デビュー以来、モダニズム文学・プロレタリア文学の両陣営から一定の肯定的評価を得ていた嘉村であったが、転換点となったのは、昭和五年一月号の「新潮」に発表された「曇り日」であった。この作品によって、嘉村は私小説という限定を突破して、時代を超えた人間性を描いた作家として認知されるに至った。作品は主人公の「私」の卑小さを徹底して描いており、その一貫した筆致が同時代の評者に強烈な印象を与えていた。ただし、「曇り日」は嘉村の文壇的地位を決定的に高めたわけではなく、昭和七年が嘉村を文壇の頂点に押し上げた年となる。 | |||||||||||

| 内容記述 | Isota Kamura wrote about 30 short stories based on his private life over a short period of time from 1928 to 1933. While he is considered a minor author, he retains a very high standing in the history of Japanese modern literature. In fact, it would not be an overstatement to say that his works can be included in the canon of Japanese modern literature. It can be said that the ardent support of critics during his time engendered such high regard for his works, which can be confi rmed from commentaries written at this time. Since his authorial debut, while Kamura gained a degree of positive appraisal from both modernist and proletarian literary camps, the turning point in his life came with the publication of Kumoribi (Cloudy Day) in the January 1930 edition of Shincho. With this work, Kamura rose above the constraints of an I-novel, and was recognized as a writer depicting human nature which transcended time periods. This work thoroughly portrayed the triviality of the self (the protagonist and narrator), and its consistent literary style left a deep impression on critics of his day. However, Kumoribi cannot place Kamura at the summit of the literary world; it was rather in 1932 when Kamura attained the summit. | |||||||||||
