| 内容記述 | The purpose of this paper is to examine the Etoki sentences in Utsuho-monogatari. Utsuho-monogatari had many unique sentences called Etoki (illustrating with pictures). However, unfortunately, no picture used for the Etoki sentences is left now. So far most studies have focused on analyzing how the Etoki sentences were made, but Hideyuki Muroki newly introduced the idea of “how to talk” into the examination of Etoki sentences. His proposal is very important in that the Etoki sentences contained more or less the interpretations by the annotators. In this paper I basically follow his proposal and examine the Etoki sentences, based on the database in my previous paper. The result of my analysis shows that most of the Etoki sentences derived from Minamoto no Masayori’s story, whereas they lacked the most important scene of Kiyohara no Toshikage’s story: the performance of koto. Also, it is revealed that the Etoki sentences were often used for eating scenes. In concluding, I should note that all of these phenomena resulted from the essence of Etoki: it was the means for expressing something more lively. | |||||
