This study examined the effects of contentmediated motivation regulation through creative works, such as music, manga, anime, novels, and games, as well as social networking and YouTube videos. In Study 1, college students were asked to freely describe the objects that support their motivation and their influence processes. The content was grouped into three major categories and 11 medium categories. In Study 2, we created a scale to examine the influence of content-related figures(e. g., idols, musicians, distributors)on motivation regulation. The results confirmed the validity of the categories in Study 1 and revealed differences in the frequency of use of motivation regulation strategies.
