It is quite different from the real estate valuation in United States and Germany. The proportion of houses in the personal portfolio is large. Thus, it can inhibit the holdings of additional risk assets, and it may have had negative wealth effects in Japanese economy. This paper compares the relevant system in Japan, United States and Germany.
