Between the late period of Anei and the Tenmei period（c.1780─1789）, as astronomical phenomena and shingaku, the learning of mind and heart, boomed and became popular, some Kibyoshis, the mighty god called “tento” or “tentei” appeared in some Kibyoshis. But the difference between “tento” or “tentei” has never been pointed so far.\nBy comparing the names and the appearances of “tento” and “tentei” in 24 works of Kibyoshis, we have clarified some tendencies and the transition in them.\nSo popular was the impressive appearance of Kisanji’s “tento” that it was so often taken up in some other Kibyoshis.
