| 内容記述 | The purpose of this article is to observe Shakespeare’s rhetorical technique, especially on the repetition of words, phrases and sentences, or the lining up the variation of these factors. Moreover, it is our aim to investigate how this technique contributes to extend the imaginative world when we hear the Bard’s words. In our research that has been done so far1）, it is clear that “three” is the number of such repetition or lining up which are most often observed, and “this gives life” to the poet’s artistic technique with strong intention. In this paper, we will examine this rhetorical art, shedding light on Antony and Cleopatra （ANT） as our text, which was thought to have written after the four great tragedies and “is now quite commonly considered to be among Shakespeare’s supreme achievements” as Kermode says.2）So we could expect more affluent results on this theme than those ever explored. | |||||
