| 内容記述 | The purpose of this study is to observe how the repetition, one of the important techniques of rhetoric, is used in Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night. So far we have perceived the way the Bard practiced this skill in order to show the characters’ feelings, ideas and thought in the plays through the repeated words, phrases and sentences. In this work have we also discovered quite a few examples of the repetition, or variation. Therefore by reading the work carefully and minutely, we should say, this manner of “repetition” is Shakespeare’s essential way of spinning his words. Then we shall indicate some typical examples seen in the dialogues and monologues stated by Viola, the heroin of this drama, and some other characters around her, in some special scenes and it shall be verifi ed that when and how such repetition appears, what eff ect it gives to each scene. | |||||
