When determining whether it is a two-character Sino-Japanese morpheme, it is not only the aspect of whether examples of usage in combination with kango/ Sino-Japanese words of two or more characters, wago/Japanese words, and gairaigo/words of foreign origin, will be confirmed or not, but also the aspect of whether a word can be constituted independently becomes important. For “togai”, examples of usage combined with kango, wago, and gairaigo were identified, and further, as it is not possible to use it as a subject or complement and as it cannot constitute a word independently, it is recognized as a two-character Sino- Japanese morpheme. Regarding usage classification of “togai”, it was classified into two categories, namely, the “togai” that specified the previous expression and the “togai” that did not, depending on whether the preceding expression was specified or not. The “togai” in which the previous expression is specified is a usage in which a specific thing that has already been covered in the preceding context is referred to. As opposed to this, the “togai” in which the previous expression is not specified is a usage in which it does not refer to a specific something that has already been covered in the preceding context, but rather refers to an arbitrary thing in a certain group. Further, we also examined what were the common characteristics in the two types of “togai”. In this paper, we try to explain “togai” uniformly using the concept of the “state of knowledge of the user”. We conclude that “togai” is an expression which indicates that the extent of assumptions made or not made about the state of knowledge of the user is low.}, pages = {97--122}, title = {指示詞的用法を持つ二字字音接頭辞「当該」}, year = {2018}, yomi = {チョウ, メイ} }
