| 内容記述 | 読み本系『平家物語』が引用する文書は、古記録等からはわからない当時の状況を知る貴重な手掛かりとなり得る。安元三年（一一七七）五月の明雲流罪事件の叙述でも長門本・『源平闘諍録』・『源平盛衰記』に計五種類の文書が引用されているが、そのなかには、山門が後白河院へのとりなしを要請するために起草した書状が三通含まれており、三通のうち二通は平清盛に宛てて書かれている。三通の書状はいずれも天台仏法を称賛して明雲の無罪を主張することが基調となっている。書状のなかで、山門は西光父子を「一類謗家」「怨家」と呼び、奸臣の讒奏のために後白河院が明雲への処罰に踏みきったと主張している。山門は、後白河院の意思によって明雲が処罰されたことを否定し、すべては西光父子の陰謀によるものと認識している。これらの書状からは、本来、後白河院に向けられるべき山門の怒りが西光父子に向けられることにより、西光讒奏説なる虚構が生み出されていたことが窺える。The documents cited in Tale of the Heike are important clues to understanding historical facts. For the scene in May of 1177, Genpei-t ō j ō roku, Genpei-j ōsuiki and Nagatobon cited five documents in total.Out of those five documents, three were written by monks of Enryakuji, for the purpose of requesting an intercession to Goshirakawa-houō. Andout of three, two were definitely written for TAIRA no Kiyomori.Most of the contents of the three missives emphasize the religious authority of the Tendai sect and argue that Myōun was innocent. He was the head of Enryaku-ji, but had been exiled by Goshirakawahouō.In the missives, monks of Enryaku-ji were cursing Saikō and his sons as devils. They denied that the punishment to Myōun was the intention of Goshirakawa-houō. And they recognized that Myōun was punished because of a conspiracy orchestrated by Saikō. However,this is not true. These missives indicate that monks of Enryaku-ji directed their anger toward Saikō and his sons instead of Goshirakawa-houō. They were not able to criticize the former emperor. This is the background against which the fiction of a conspiracy involving Saikō in Tale of the Heike was born. | |||||
