AND we can also see many letters sent with articles, and many articles letters are written on them. An action of ‘write letters on an article' is rarely seen in other literary works. But in UTSUHO there are many cases. So, it will be worthwhile to consider the meanings of the cases. The actions can be frequently found in the part of ‘Proposals of marriage to ATEMIYA'. Many suitors sent a lot of letters and gifts to her. And the quantity of letters and articles sent by FUJIWARA NAKATADA and MINAMOTONO SANETADA surpassed other suitors. At first, proposing styles of these two noblemen are alike. But as articles letters are written on it change, relationship both between NAKATADA and ATEMIYA , and between SANETADA and her also change, and the two noblemen's styles became different. This difference was brought mainly by whether each of these two has sense to understand an importance of changing the style of proposal.
