| 内容記述 | This article examines a number of addresses to the Throne and draws out a common denominator in the literati－officials’arguments on the ideal relationship between Emperors and Chancellors in the Northern Song era． There is indeed a wide variety ill their opinions which apparently contain contradictions． When generally reviewed and summed up， however， there is a common fundamental point in them， which is persistently maintained despite different times and situations， That is；‘the Chancellor is in the position to preside over politics generally， whereas the Emperor is to choose his Chancellor． But the public opinion should be taken into considerations in either the Chancellor directing politics or the Emperor electing his Chancellor’． Thus the public opinion exercised restrains on Emperorship． and Chancellorship alike． | |||||
