| 内容記述 | This study aims to propose approaches for university-sponsored programs to realize a society of multicultural coexistence in the future by examining practices where a university took the lead in promoting local multicultural coexistence through a workshop grounded in Japanese language education and intercultural communication. The workshop consisted of two sessions. The first session featured presentations and exercises on microaggression and “Easy Japanese.” In the second session, foreign residents and local Japanese residents together engaged in creative activities. This paper examines the potential of these initiatives and the challenges for practices contributing to multicultural coexistence, based on the analysis of participants' responses to an open-ended questionnaire and video recording data. The analysis revealed that leveraging the university's expertise in Japanese language education and intercultural communication to plan and implement workshops where local Japanese residents and residents of foreign origin learn together can provide participants with diverse insights, promote multiple aspects of intercultural competence, and serve as a space for exploring concrete forms of communication that would contribute to a society of coexistence. We propose continuing such initiatives through the creation and dissemination of education, collaboration, and communities that lead to a society of coexistence. |
