| 内容記述 | The purpose of this study is to observe and analyze Shakespeare’s outstanding technique of rhetoric where three related words, phrases, sentences are frequently lined up in the characters’ lines. In this study, we take the Merry Wives of Windsor (MWW)1） as our corpus. Especially we will examine it from the view point of how the repetition or lining up of these factors, which we call “variation,” occur. The major difference between the former texts we have taken and this one is, the ratio of the verse to the prose. The percentage of the prose in MWW is overwhelmingly larger than that of the verse.2） This is comparatively opposite to that in the other works. Therefore, our major concern is to ascertain if there is any difference in the usage of the variation or repetition by the Bard between the verse-mainly-used works and prose-mainly-used ones. |
