In the experiment, high and low auditory word recognition speeds were manipulated for advanced Chinese learners of Japanese. The results showed no difference between high and low auditory word recognition speeds in the rate of shadowing reproduction.On the other hand, different auditory word recognition speeds produced different results in the comprehension test, indicating that faster learners understood and shadowed the text content better than slower learners.
