Tsurayuki was more than a simply the　composer of Tanka（Japanese Poems）: he was also a composer of the Kokin─waka─shu（an　imperial anthology of poetry）and the Tosa─Nikki（The Tosa Diary）. This paper examines　Tsurayuki as a composer of stories written to story poems.　The paper will present factual evidence confirming that the Ise─monogatari was written on　the premise of the Kokin─waka─shu and will reconstruct the unique view of the world　portrayed through the Ise─monogatari.
