          <datacite:description descriptionType="Abstract">This　paper　reports　about　the　Jewish　community　in　Jerba　island，　Tunisia，　especialy　focusing on　their　feast　of　e1－Ghriba．　The　e1－Ghriba　festival，　which　is　held　just　after　Passover，　has　a long　history　according　to　orthodoxical　Jewish　diaspora　legend．　At　the　same　time，　it　has Jerbian　local　character．　This　double　character　of　the　feast　illustrates　Janus－like　aspects　of Jewish　minority　community：local／global，　devided／integra1，　closed／open　society．　Inside　the island　there　are　several　communal　groups　include　the　Jewish，　which　are　specialized　in　certain ways　of　living．　Each　community　is　devided　into　several　strata　as　wel1．　Oppose　to　traditional Mosaic　theory，　the　Jewish　community　in　Jerba　has　been　isolated　from，　but　at　the　same　time has　cooperated　with　other　min6rity　communities　under　the　limited　ecosystem　of　the　island． Intra／inter－communal　relationships　makes　possible　to　utilize　maxially　the　subtle　defferences in　limited　resources．　The　i血tra／inter　communal－relationship　among　devided　pieces　characterizes 　and　guarantees　the　dynamics　of　Islamic　multi－cultural　society．　Religious　multi－cultural structure　of　Islamic　society　is　not　so　static　as　used　to　believe．　Islamic　system　has　worked　as the　balancer　between　human　societies　and　fragile　ecological　circumstances．</datacite:description>
